A journal dedicated to the life and mission of St. Gaspar del Bufalo, and to a life lived in response to the call and the cry of the Most Precious Blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our on-going mission is to share good news of hope and communion.

Oakland

Bishop John Cummins, The Bishop who ordained me to the priesthood 12 years ago, has retired. Bishop Allen Vigneron who replaces him was born on the feast of St. Gaspar del Bufalo.

What The Pope Said

Over at
Deo Omnis Gloria he pointed his readers to what the Pope said to us. He only pointed them to the excerpt on my blog. Here is the complete text from the Vatican website. When you are done with that, check out what Blessed John XXIII said to us. The link is on the sidebar.

St. Therese
Virgin, Doctor of the Church, Patroness of Missionaries

For the feast of St. Therese, I am not sure that I can say any more that I did last year. Well last year I did not say anything either. I let Therese speak for herself, which is quite sufficient. She is a treasure. I have a candle lighted by her icon and relic.

Rules for Cubs

I am not a Cubs fan, I am a Giants fan, but watching the Cubs/Braves game last night reminded me of the rules for Cubs, bear cubs.

I have a handmade teddy bear sitting on a chair in my bedroom. It was made by my Grandmother shortly after her 90th birthday. She made it out of an old pair of denim jeans. So it is a blue denim bear, a reminder of my beloved grandmother. The bear is wearing a Chicago Cubs hat. The hat is supposed to remind me of the rules.

The rules for a bear cub are as follows:

1. Stay close to Mother Bear
2. Do what Mother Bear does.
3. Within those limits have as much fun as possible.

These rules are supposed to remind of of the rules for the Baptized.

1. Stay close to Jesus.
2. Do what Jesus does.
3. Within those limits have as much fun as possible.

I am being interviewed

I am being interviewed. They are great questions and I will get to them today or tomorrow. I had never heard of his blog before but I shall probably post it among my occasional reads.

I am just back from Cleveland where I did the mid-term evaluation of one of our Deacons. I will be doing his final in December and his ordination to the priesthood is scheduled for June. I did not have email or blog access while in Cleveland, and I have over 300 emails sitting here waiting to be answered.
