A journal dedicated to the life and mission of St. Gaspar del Bufalo, and to a life lived in response to the call and the cry of the Most Precious Blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our on-going mission is to share good news of hope and communion.

Hello from Ohio

It was a wonderful evening. Jeffrey was incorporated for life in the midst of his family and friends and the Precious Blood Community. Fr. Angelo Anthony, CPPS, the Provincial of the Cincinnati Province officiated. Fr. Bill Nordenbrock, CPPS preached. Br. Terry Nufer CPPS was the organist and I was cantor. After the party I got a little Gregorian chant lesson from the master, Fr. Larry Heiman, CPPS. Fr. Heiman has been teaching chant for more than 60 years, and he is up to date on the latest studies. He asked me to get some things from the Pontifical Instiute of Sacred Music while I was in Rome. He even offered to come to Chicago and give a lesson to my chant choir. I was surprised when he said that Solemnes was outmoded and that there were older manuscripts which had provided some new and different insights into chant. The manuscripts he showed me date from the 10th century. It was quite an exciting discussion.

Fr, Ballor and I will celebrate the Eucharist at 6:00am and then head to the airport. I was delighted to find internet access here in the cotton fields of Ohio. I do not know what I will find or have time for in Rome. I will keep a journal and will post some things on my return.

Vacation

I will be driving to Ohio today. Tomorrow I leave for Rome. Tonight is the Definitive Incorporation of Jeffrey S. Kirch, CPPS. Tommorrow I head to Italy for a little vacation, and to attend the canonization for our newest Precious Blood Saint. I will probably not have email access, though if I do I will try to post some pictures. I will be back next Wednesday night.
