A journal dedicated to the life and mission of St. Gaspar del Bufalo, and to a life lived in response to the call and the cry of the Most Precious Blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our on-going mission is to share good news of hope and communion.

It is just a little hernia surgery, but I won't be blogging for a few days. Thanks for the prayers.

Financial Reports

(rant mode on)

Hate may be strong word, but it is the word that comes to mind when I am stuck in front of a computer inserting myriad little numbers into a multitude of little boxes. Financial stewardship is an important administrative task. I think it is included in the scriptures as an important part of mission. I can mind the funds, but having to account for every penny of $250,000 budget is a process that has taken approximately 36 hours so far this month. As a pastor I was able to depend up on very professional assistance, but this apparently does not come with formation work. And of course, as is to be expected, there has been increasing pressure to get the final report in for the fiscal year that ended July 31. You may remember that since that time I have been in Rome, Ireland, California(3 times), Minnesota, Ohio, and Utah. This included the Formators workshop, Vacation, Warrenville Meeting, HRI, Congress 2005 meeting, IFAC, and Provincial Council. I suppose it is their job to ask for these reports. Financial reports are certainly not my gift and I guess I am a little annoyed at the pressure without an offer of assistance.

So far the required report has consumed nine pages, spread sheets, reconciliation summaries, etc. I'm still not done.
