A journal dedicated to the life and mission of St. Gaspar del Bufalo, and to a life lived in response to the call and the cry of the Most Precious Blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our on-going mission is to share good news of hope and communion.

On The Road

I leave very early in the morning for Minneapolis. It is time for the
Retrouvaille International Council Meeting. Please pray for Jeff and Donna Heusler and I who will be installed as the International Coordinating Team. Fr. Joe Geitl, who is the current chaplain, has to leave early, so the baton gets passed a bit early to me. I am a little un-nerved by having to preach to an international audience. Pray I get the homily done. Time to pack the laptop....

On Vespers

The Holy Father has begun a new Catechesis on Vespers. I, for one, am delighted.

More on Flagons

He's a little better this time. Scroll down past the stuff on Chasubles.

No More Flagon?

On Consecrating Wine in a Flagon. I think he is being a bit extreme. I do not believe that flagons are prohibited, and consecrating enough wine for a large congregation in one of our Precious Blood parishes would seem to require it. Having several cups poured at the Offertory subtracts from the sign value of the one cup, and pouring from a larger cup risks spilling the Precious Blood.

I will see if I can find a picture of the Flagon we used at St. Barnabas.

So what did I win? Very very very busy day today. Tomorrow I leave for Minneapolis. Various feelings of surprise and sadness today. It is still my home but I am relieved I do not live in California anymore. Now do not get me started on Chicago. The accumulation of garbage is an appropriate symbol.
