A journal dedicated to the life and mission of St. Gaspar del Bufalo, and to a life lived in response to the call and the cry of the Most Precious Blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our on-going mission is to share good news of hope and communion.

Gaspar and Carmel

Steven Riddle of Flos Carmeli is in the habit of linking to us often. There must be a great convergence between Carmelite Spirituality and Precious Blood Spirituality. I will have to let my computer do a search through Gaspar's 3000+ letters and see if the word Carmel ever shows up. I know he had a fondness for Salesian Spirituality and at one time wanted to be a Jesuit.

St. Gaspar grew up across the way from The Gesu, the Jesuit Church in Rome, and he went to the Jesuit School, the Collegio Romano. I have fun telling my Jesuit friends, and I have several, that Gaspar wanted to become a Jesusit but Pius VII convinced him to become a Saint instead. (grin)
